Questions patients ask
New patients and insurance
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring your insurance card, a list of current medications, a list of medical conditions, completed registration forms if you have them, and any recent X-rays from a previous dentist (or ask that office to send them to us).
Does my child need a parent at the first visit?
Yes. Patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at their first consultation visit.
How long is a new patient appointment?
Your first visit is a little longer than a typical cleaning because we take time to get to know you, take any needed X-rays and photos, complete an exam, and clean your teeth.
Do new patients get anything extra?
Every new patient receives a free fluoride varnish treatment at their first visit.
Do you accept dental insurance?
Please call (706) 778-6260 with your insurance information. Our team will help you understand your benefits before treatment.
How do I know what treatment will cost?
After your exam, we explain recommended treatment and provide cost information before any work is scheduled, so there are no surprises.
Treatment questions
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe pain, a knocked-out or broken tooth, swelling, bleeding that will not stop, and a lost crown on a painful tooth are all reasons to call promptly. Learn more about emergency dentistry.
How long do dental implants last?
With good home care and regular checkups, the implant post can last for decades. The crown on top may need replacement after many years of wear. Learn more about dental implants.
Will I be asleep during IV sedation?
IV sedation is conscious sedation. You remain able to respond, but most patients feel very relaxed and remember little of the procedure. Learn more about sedation dentistry.
When should my child first see a dentist?
The ADA recommends a first visit within six months of the first tooth appearing, or by the first birthday. Learn more about children's dentistry.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Treatment time depends on how much movement is needed. Many cases take about a year, and simpler cases can be shorter. We give you an estimate at your consultation. Learn more about invisalign.
